I was blessed with the opportunity to perform "Yā Savare So" in Rāg Des at the Shruti Sangam Bhajan Sandhya 2020.
This bhajan was written by the 16th-century mystic poet Mirabai and composed by my Dada Guruji, the late, great Sangeet Martand Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasraj ji. The bhajan expresses Mirabai's wholehearted devotion to Krishna even in the face of family exclusion and social persecution, and I fell in love with the song when I first heard it because it parallels my relationship with God. I express my deepest gratitude to my Guruji, Smt. Lalita Mathur ji, for teaching me this bhajan; it has become one of my favorite Indian classical songs to sing!🙏
